We are responsible for the personal information you give us through this website.
What we collect
- Your order: your name, email address, delivery address, phone number if you give one, what you bought and your postage choice.
- Your review: your star rating, your words and the name you choose to show, if you leave a review.
- Messages: anything you send us by email.
Your card details go directly to Stripe, our payment provider. We never see or store your full card number.
Why we use it
- To fulfil your order: to take payment, post your order, send you delivery updates and handle any returns. We need this to carry out our contract with you.
- To keep records: to meet our tax and accounting duties. The law requires this.
- To ask for and show reviews: your dispatch email includes a link to leave a review. Approved reviews appear on this website with the name you chose. This is in our legitimate interest as a small business.
- To protect the shop: to prevent fraud and misuse. This is also in our legitimate interest.
We don't send marketing emails, and we don't sell your information.
Who we share it with
Only the companies that help us run the shop:
- Stripe takes payments, helps prevent fraud and stores our order records.
- Evri delivers your parcel, so it receives your name and address.
- Resend sends our order emails.
- Railway hosts this website.
- Google provides our website font, so your browser connects to Google when a page loads, and it also hosts our email inbox.
- YouTube provides the install video, which only loads if you open that slide.
Some of these companies process information outside the UK. Where they do, they are expected to use legally recognised safeguards to protect it. We may also share information if the law requires it.
Cookies and visitor counts
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Your bag is remembered in your own browser. Stripe uses its own cookies during checkout to process payment and prevent fraud.
We count visitors without cookies. A visitor is recognised for one day only, using a scrambled code made from their internet address and browser type. The code isn't saved, and we only keep daily totals.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for up to six years, for tax and accounting and in case of a dispute. Reviews stay with the order, and we can remove yours from the website if you ask.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. To do this, email cablecove1@gmail.com. Some records must be kept by law, and we'll tell you if that applies.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
